NMLTA Certified Professionals - Charter Memberships

Requirements and Qualifications for Charter Membership:

In order to qualify for and receive a Charter Membership, you must:

  1. Be a licensed New Mexico agent in title guaranty, and have at least 5 years experience working for one or more of our Agency or Underwriter members, in either the title or escrow field;
  2. Have taken a minimum of 20 Continuing Education hours in the past 5 years;
  3. Submit a minimum of 35 questions, or ideas for questions, that are suitable for use in our certification exams.   Acceptable questions can be in multiple choice or true/false format, and should relate to title, escrow or regulatory matters that a professional would or should most likely learn through experience, as opposed to learning in a class. It is possible to get credit for an idea for a question, if we are able to formulate one for you using your suggested subject.  To receive certification as Title Examination professional, submit 25 questions related to title matters, and 10 related to regulatory and licensing matters; to receive Escrow Settlement certification, submit 25 questions related to escrow matters and 10 related to regulatory and licensing matters.
  4. In order to receive a charter membership as a Certified Professional, we must be able to use a minimum of 30 out of the 35 questions you submit.  If you meet this and all other criteria, you will receive a one-time membership at no cost. Once you qualify for charter membership in one category you are not eligible for free membership in any other category.

        Alternative Qualification:

For any member employee who meets the experience and CE requirements, and who has previously been designated as a National Title Professional by the ALTA, the requirement to submit questions or pass the certification exam shall be waived. Such a member is eligible for a one-time certification in the designation relating to their particular area of experience (title or escrow). A member qualifying in this manner shall pay the normal membership fee and subsequent renewals.
